ZZ Bearings Launches Company-wide "Zero Defects" Quality Improvement Campaign

"Quality is the lifeline of an enterprise; bearings are the joints of machinery—there is no room for even the slightest negligence." This slogan hangs in the most prominent location within ZZ Bearings' production workshop. Every March, the company observes its "Quality Month" initiative; this year, the theme has been designated as "Zero Defects: It Starts with Me."

Throughout the campaign, the company organized a diverse array of activities. First was a skills competition for frontline employees, where lathe operators, grinders, and assemblers competed side-by-side, vying for precision and speed—an event that saw the emergence of a cohort of "Artisan Stars." Next, a quality case analysis session was held; the Technical Department compiled a selection of typical customer quality complaints from the past year and invited frontline team leaders to participate in a joint review session to uncover root causes and formulate preventive measures. Additionally, external experts were invited to conduct advanced training on the ISO 9001 quality management system, thereby enhancing quality awareness among all employees.

Most inspiring was the enthusiastic participation of the frontline workforce. During the "My Suggestion for Quality" campaign, employees in the production department submitted 12 practical and actionable proposals for process improvements. For instance, a veteran fitter proposed "improving the material used for tooling locating pins"; upon adoption, this suggestion effectively resolved a persistent assembly difficulty for a specific bearing model, resulting in an immediate two-percentage-point reduction in the scrap rate. The General Manager personally presented bonuses to the employees who submitted outstanding suggestions, emphasizing: "Quality is not inspected into a product; it is built into it. Only when every individual treats the product as their own personal masterpiece can we truly achieve zero defects." This campaign not only elevated product quality but also fostered a stronger sense of unity among the workforce, cultivating a robust and pervasive culture of quality throughout the company.
